Fundamentals of Data for Open Smart Cities (D100)

Description
Author: Nabeel Ahmed (Open North)
Review: Jean-Noë Landry (Open North)

The one thing all Open Smart City projects share in common, whether focused on solving transit bottlenecks or breaking senior isolation, is a mindful, secure, and ethical use of data.

Comprised of four modules, D100: Fundamentals of Data for Open Smart Cities is the introductory data course of the Community Solutions Network One-to-One Advisory Service. It builds on the knowledge you gained in OSC100: Fundamentals of the Open Smart City by providing a basic overview of what data is, why it matters and key issues to consider when working with data in the municipal context.

Once you have finished D100: Fundamentals of Data for Open Smart Cities, you should have an increased awareness and understanding of:

1. Why data matters (5-10 minutes)
Invitation: Why is data important to Open Smart Cities, and what does good data management look like?

2. The role of data in local government (5-10 minutes)

3. Working with data (5-10 minutes)

4. Sharing data to support collaboration and engagement (5-10 minutes)
